PRODUCTION
The Hamilton Film Festival is an active production supporter in the Hamilton, Ontario area.
SHORTS
The Hamilton Film Festival produces 4 - 11 short works each year through the filmmaking camps, and working with the local community on larger projects. The Hamilton Film Festival Pitch session granted $1000 to local producers A J Bate and Joe Botelho for their next short film project which also includes 40 hours of mentoring / training (approx $2000). In June 2023, the Hamilton Film Festival School of Media Arts will support the short film Cursing My Name (by Olivia Ellis) with equipment loan and a space to rehearse and read. Dungeon of Death by Locked in the Cellar Creations was supported with a location for 3 days. Coeur/Azón by Cal Keo was supported with a location for 2 days of shooting .
DOCUMENTARY
In 2021, HFF was active in assisting Hamilton LOFT with the production, and presentation, of their debut short "Why Didn't I Leave?"
This project is a short documentary challenging the stigma behind that very question - one which places blame on victims of abuse, rather than holding perpetrators accountable. Urbanicity Article
TV, WEB AND NEW MEDIA
HFF was also a contributor to the new 7-episode TV series "Wild Child." (pictured) Broadcast now on YesTV, streaming in the US on DCMP, and streaming now on Bell FIBETV, Channel 1, or the FibeTV app. Stream here or see theme in the theatre here. We also contributed some location support to the series BIKE by Terrance Odette.
COMMUNITY
The film school has opened the door for many co-op students in Hamilton and will continue to do so in the 2023/2024 school year.
